At Maps, your privacy is our core value. Maps is designed as a local-first, client-side application. We do not operate server infrastructure to collect, store, track, or sell your personal details or saved place markers.
All place markers, names, descriptions, and custom categories you record are stored locally on your device in a sandboxed PouchDB database. This data is private to your browser. Clearing your browser's application cache or using incognito/private modes will remove this database.
If you choose to enable cloud synchronization, Maps links directly to the secure cloud APIs provided by Filen. Your credentials (email, password, and two-factor code) are processed purely on the client side to retrieve security keys directly from Filen.
Your saved places are compiled and encrypted client-side using military-grade AES-256-GCM encryption before leaving your device, then stored as a private file named places.json inside a folder named Apps/maps. We do not have access to your decryption keys, password, or plaintext places.
We do not collect diagnostics, crash logs, IP address tracking, telemetry, or user analytics. The application operates in complete anonymity.
Because this project is open-source and AGPL-3.0 licensed, you can review the source code directly, run your own builds, or contribute adjustments openly on the repository.
